Stranger Things Season 3 Adding A Trio Of New Characters
https://screenrant.com/stranger-things-season-3-new-characters-descriptions-casting-release-2019/
A new report provides character descriptions for the new faces we’ll be seeing in season 3 of Stranger Things. The smash hit Netflix series may not be returning until 2019, but the production team is already gearing up to begin filming this spring. Fans that were a bit overwhelmed by all the new characters that joined the fray in season 2 will be relieved to learn that the series is only looking to add three recurring guest star roles — for now, anyway.
Despite all the new additions, the focus of the series remains on the headlining group of pals (Eleven, Mike, Dustin, Lucas, and Will) and their families, as well as Chief Jim Hopper, of course. The kids remain the clear strength of the series, and while they may have gained a member last season in young Max, their effortless chemistry shined just as bright in season 2, which was arguably better than the show’s inaugural outing. The fresh faces in Hawkins, Indiana only added to the show’s awesomeness, with Paul Reiser’s Dr. Owens and Sean Astin’s Bob Newby emerging as standout newcomers.
It looks like Hawkins is set to get a bit more crowded in season 3, as That Hashtag Show is reporting that a trio of new characters will soon be added to the cast. The site also managed to snag detailed descriptions of those characters from their source, which you can check out for yourself below. (Note: the character names may be temporary placeholders.)
“Mayor Larry Kline.” Described as a classic, 80’s style slick politician, “Kline” is described as pathetic and driven only by his own interests. The studio is looking for a male, 40s-60s, to fill the role.
“Bruce.” A morally compromised news reporter in his 50s, “Bruce” was described as outwardly sexist, overweight and bedraggled.
“Patricia Brown.” “Patricia” seems to be filing the role of the sweet, neighborhood elder. The studio is looking for a woman in her 70s for the role which will see her spending a lot of time tending to her garden and offering her advice to the neighborhood kids. Given the Duffer brothers affinity for subverting expectations, we find ourselves wondering if this sweet old lady might have some connection to the Upside Down; then again, that might be just the type of thing they want us to think we know and she just ends up a sweet old lady
Given how much season 2’s cast additions ended up impacting the storyline, we wouldn’t be surprised to learn that there’s a bit more to these characters than their descriptions would imply. Any one of them could easily slide into an antagonistic role on the series — hell, all of them could. The smart money there is obviously on Mayor Kline and Bruce, but we certainly agree with That Hashtag Show that a “oh man, Patricia Brown is evil?!” twist would be pretty fantastic.
Is Hawkins getting a bit too crowded for your taste, or are you excited to hear about all the new additions to Stranger Things season 3? Sound off in the comments.

I think if they are just side characters then it will be good.
I love the idea of an "elder" offering advice to the kids.

I wonder if we might see another TWD crossover and see Jill Jane Clements as Patricia. Not sure how old she is though.
